An inclusive concert “We Exist” took place at our Theatre on April 12, 2022. This inclusive show was staged by the “Be Kind Azerbaijan” team. Children both with some disabilities and without them took part in the concert. The “Dance Ability” team performed here as well. Founder of the “Be Kind Azerbaijan” project Shirin Rzayeva, artistic head of the Baku Marionette Theatre Tarlan Gorchu, inclusion specialist Zarina Mammadova, artistic director of the play Inna Imranova, and mothers of the young concert participants joined the show programme as well. The event showed that physical problems of children with special needs cannot prevent them from integrating, being active in various everyday activities and enjoying the life, just like they had experienced it while being a part of this concert. Speaking at the event, Shahin Seyidzadeh, Head of the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve, stressed the importance of such inclusive projects. Among the guests of the concert was also Sukhrob Khojimatov, official of the UN Office in Azerbaijan.

On March 27, a special performance of the musical “Arshin Mal Alan” was held at the Baku Marionette Theatre. The event was arranged in cooperation with the charity organization FOR AZERBAIJAN. That day we performed our show exclusively for the children, whose fathers sacrificed their lives in 2020 during the 44-day Patriotic War for the sake of our Motherland – for the victory over the Armenian occupants.
We are very glad that our young spectators came in touch with the world-class classic play with its marvelous story and magic music created by great Uzeyir Hajibeyli, grown up in the city of Shusha. Still we consider the smiling eyes of the kids having visited our show to be the main achievement of the event.

On March 10, our country traditionally celebrates National Theatre Day. 149 years have passed since the premiere of the very first Azerbaijani show was held. So, the National Theatre of Azerbaijan starts the jubilee year of its history - the year of its 150th anniversary. On these momentous days a charity show was performed at the Baku Marionette Theatre. Uzeyir Hajibeyli's musical of "Arshin Mal Alan" was shown to the most active youth of our country - volunteers, who willingly participate in large projects in various areas. Among the spectators, there were especially many volunteers cooperating with the ASAN Xidmət service.

The team of Baku Marionette Theatre is deeply agitated and saddened by the situation in Ukraine. Being the men of culture, the men of art, we believe that the war in any of its manifestations is something terrible. It should not happen in the today’s world. We join the voices of all those who are against any war. Any war is a huge loss not only in business and economy, but also in culture and souls. War destroys cultural ties, which then cannot be easily restored – after all, war throws the Nations many, many decades back...

The launch of the Baku Marionette Theatre’s new building took place on December 24, 2016 – exactly five years ago. Prominent figures of Azerbaijan culture and art gathered together in the theatre to celebrate this jubiley anniversary. Head officers of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher” took part in the event, too. Participants enthusiastically spoke about unical contribution of the Baku Puppet Theatre to the cultural palette of our country as well as to the theatrical art globally. Invaluable role of the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, in bringing the project of the new theatre building to life was especially noted. It is symbolic that the jubiley date of the new building's launch coincided with the date of the 60th anniversary of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Participants of the theatre's jubiley party sent their sincere congratulations and warmest wishes to Mr. President on the occasion of his jubiley birthday.
