Since Baku Marionette Theatre was established in 1988, Hasan Yagubov left his cameraman job and became our theatre’s puppeteer. So, for non-stop 37 years he served as our actor, tirelessly teaching young puppeteers the secrets of this magical art, and was now set to retire with honor. A solemn and heartfelt ceremony was held at the theatre in Hasan-bey’s honor, countless gratitude words were sounded. Members of Hasan-bey’s family participated in the celebration, too. We believe that Hasan-bey will continue to maintain close ties with our theatre passing his invaluable creative experience to the youth further on.

The event dedicated to International Puppeteers’ Day and initiated by the “ASAN Volunteers” organization in the framework of the “ASAN Mail” social program was held at the Baku Puppet Theatre benefitting 35 children from Orphanages No. 1 and 2. The children enjoyed our show of “Arshin Mal Alan” and then with the support of the “Baker Tilly Azerbaijan” company they received some gifts. During the intermission our young spectators came up to the theatre’s terrace floor and enjoyed very special panorama view of the City of Baku.

FLY TO BAKU / 31 OCTOBER — 02 NOVEMBER İn the framework of this Festival the City of Baku turned to the stage for a landmark cultural initiative. Museums, palaces, city streets and cultural locations including Baku Marionette Theatre had hosted exhibitions, performances, concerts, and encounters that unite Azerbaijan’s creative spirit with the international art world.

Baku Marionette Theatre had arranged its another event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the great Azerbaijan composer and playwright Uzeyir Hajibeyli. The event was organized with participation of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On October 23, a charity show was performed for the kids from the Children’s Social Service Institution “Orphanage No. 1” and the beneficiaries of the Social Service Institution No. 2 for persons with disabilities. The musical comedy “Arshin Mal Alan” by Uzeyir Hajibeyli was shown to our lovely guests.

On September 18, 2025, Baku Marionette Theatre joins the entire of our Nation celebrating the 140th anniversary of the outstanding cultural figure, brilliant Azerbaijani composer and playwright Uzeyir Bey Hajibeyli. For many years his musical comedy "Arshin Mal Alan" and mugham opera "Leyli and Majnun" are performed in our theatre being re-staged our marionette shows. It is a great honor for us to serve in preserving and continuing his legacy – the great treasure of the Nation! And every time we perform for an audience, we feel both the responsibility and the joy of this honorable task. To honor the memory of the immortal composer on this significant day, we visited the Alley of Honor and decorated Uzeyir Bey's grave with flowers. You will forever stay among us, our dear Uzeyir Bey!
